We do not place them in any order but simply give you a list of our Top 5 in the state.
-- Brandon Teamer - Omaha Central
Lineman ---- 6'5" -------- 255 lbs
Teamer is a force on both lines. He is being recruited by several division I coleges including already receiving offers from Nebraska and Colorado. Brandon Teamer is considered the top defensive lineman.
-- Bo Ruud - Lincoln Southeast
Linebacker/fullback ---- 6'1" ---- 225 lbs
Ruud has already committed to play at Nebraska. He looks forwarded to playing at linebacker with his brother Barrett at Nebraska. He is a strong leader and can really hit when tackling.
--- Jake Gabel - Papillion-LaVista
lineman ----- 6'3" ------ 280 lbs
Jake Gabel is a player who understands how to gain and maintain position on the oppostion. He offers great size and strength. He is likely the top offensive lineman in the state.
--- Chauncey Marshall - Lincoln Northeast
wide receiver/defensive back/ LB --- 6'3" --- 210 lbs
Marshall runs a 4.55 to 4.6 40, and with his size should be an outstanding college receiver. Will run across the middle on pass routes.
--- Josh Mueller - Columbus Lakeview
tight end/defensive line --- 6'7" ---- 250 lbs
Another player who has already committed to Nebraska for 2003. A great athlete, Lakeview will try to get the ball in his hands a great deal this fall.

Nick Bahe - Lincoln Southeast
Because Bahe is such a multi-talented athlete there has been some rumors that he might sign a college letter of intent for basketball and not play football his senior season. He is an exciteing player to watch.
As a sophomore he helped lead Southeast to the class A state title and last year lost only once in the semi-finals of state action. At 6'1" and 170 he has good size.
* John McKarelle - Millard North
An option quarterback who offers speed and strength. He is able to create the big play for his team. A real impact player.
* Ken Kellner - Omaha Burke
Provides very good passing skills and leadership. Does not have explosive breakaway speed but moves around well in the offense.
* Sam Burns - Omaha Creighton Prep
Should offer solid quarterbacking to a talented Creighton Prep team. The role of the QB maybe expanded with the graduation of Steve Hicks.
* Shawn Nienhueser - Sidney
At 5'10 and approximately 160 lbs Nienhueser is small for a Division I recruit at QB. He srambles well and has a strong arm.
* Kyle Rupp - Grand Island Northwest
Rupp offers good size and strength. He has not always played consistently, but as a senior should make strides towards being a solid QB
* Matt Lawson - Omaha Roncalli
Started 2001 has quarterback. Moved to wide receiver with the development of Matt Bower. Talented athlete who plays where his team needs him to play.
* Greg Sarchet - Ogallala
Can run and throw the football. At 6' and 175 lbs he is able to stay strong for the season.
** Chad Hayden - Valley
5'11" ------- 190 lbs
Makes excellent decisions with the football and can create the big play with his legs as well as his arm. His senior year should be exciting and productive for his team and himself.
** Andrew Small - Hastings St. Cecilia
6'2" --------- 170 lbs
Has the size and speed (4.7 40) to make a difference. His arm is strong enough to make the difficult passes. He has good leadership skills.
** Aaron Glassnapp - Conestoga
6'1" ---------- 185 lbs
Aaron has a very strong arm and has shown the ability to run the option also.
**** Todd Kraus -- Bayard
6'1" -------- 180 lbs
Also plays defensive back. Todd is a strong armed passing quarterback who bring a lot of attention to western Nebraska. Is he another Kelly Strofer or Scott Frost ?
** Matt Sells - Falls City Sacred Heart
6'0" -------- 175 lbs
Athletic ---- that is how Matt Sells is described. He plays defense, returns kicks, runs showing good skills, and can throw the ball also. Should help his team to the title game in Lincoln this year.
** Tyler Ideus - Freeman
6'2" -------- 170 Lbs
He can pass the ball, run with the ball and catch it also. He is also one of the "BIG" hitters on the defensive side of the ball.
**** Tyler Kester - Clearwater
6'1" ----- 180 lbs
Has shown improvement each of the last two years and maybe showing the complete package of skills this year.
* Aaron Forsberg - Grand Island
6'3" --- 245 lbs
Will have to help the GI line replace super stater Kurt Mann.
* Steve Schmidt - Omaha Westside
6"0" ------ 270 lbs
Hard worker who can play both ways and make plays along the line.
* Chris Mungin - Papillion LaVista
6'6" ------ 270 lbs
Has gotten attention along the defensive line. Needs to continue to improve his movement along the line.
* Cody Huenefeld -- Aurora
6'1" ---- 230 lbs
Strong and Quick lineman who plays both sides of the ball.
* Thomas Hall - Nebraska City
6'3" ------ 190 lbs
A tight end and outside defensive force. Shows improvement blocking.
* Josh Mueller - Columbus Lakeview

* Bubba Kramer - West Holt
6'3" ----- 270 lbs.
Moves extremely well for a big player. He will have an impact although if he does not dominate some will question his effort.
* John Higgins -- Beatrice
6'1" ----- 235 lbs
The anchor of the Beatrice offensive line .
* Adam McClintock - Beatrice
6'1" ---- 205 lbs
Undersized for the line. Effective as a pulling blocker and as a defensive stopper.
* Scott Crook - Shelby
6'0" ---- 220 lbs
Seems to make a high percentage of tacles behind the line of scrimmage.
* Ben Hochstein - Hartington CC
6'4" ---------- 240 lbs.
Will make a very good rush end at the college level. This kid will make a big move this year.
* Andy Beacom - Emerson-Hubbard
6'2" ------ 190 lbs
Plays along line in high school, but should adjust to linebacker. Good quickness and never quits on a play.
* Chris Ellis - Friend
6'0" ------ 200 lbs.
A good high school player who will get attention for all-state honors.
* Everett Baxter - Omaha Nation
6'0" ------- 230 lbs
A strong blocker on the offensive line.
* Preston Crumley - Hartington
6'4" -------- 245 lbs
Big player at a small high school. Strong with average speed must play hard on every play. Must be aggressive.
* Travis Stephens - St. Edwards
Weight and height not given
Controls the middle on defense.
* Justin Hoesing - South Sioux City
6'2" ---------- 250 lbs.
A fprce on both sides of the ball this year he must step up and lead the Cardinal line. He has the talent.
* Bryan Diekmann - Norris
6'0" -------- 220 lbs
Strong, effective blocker on offense and a strong run stopper on defense.
* Chris Grooms - York
6'1" -------- 220 lbs
Can close the corner off from his offensive tackle position.
* Tony Sullivan - Wahoo Bishop Neumann
6'2" ---------- 225 lbs.
Good size and speed. Is strong and opponents will need to know where he is on the field.
* Bobby Nordstrom - Wahoo
6'0" ----- 250 lbs.
Strong and will anchor Both of Wahoos lines.
* Bo Ruud - Lincoln Southeast
6'1" -- 220 lbs
Fullback and linebacker for state powerhouse at Southeast. Has already committed to Nebraska and will likely play linebacker.
* Jake Dugger - Millard West
5'9" -- 180 lbs
Quick with explosive acceleration Dugger can be a game breaker. Finishes his runs strong.
* Brett Bennett - Omaha Northwest
5'10" -- 190 lbs
Tough runner with an eye for the seem when running. As a senior should get lots of looks.
* Scott Siegel - Grand Island
6'0" --- 190 lbs
Good strong runner who will get the tough yards when the team needs them. Speed is improving.
* Jeff Baumert - Fremont
5'11" ---- 200 lbs
A bull in the backfield. Blocking is good from his fullback position. Also is an outstanding Linebacker.
* Travis Gingery - Lincoln East
5'11" --- 180 lbs
Will be a star on a Lincoln East team that must develop more weapons. Very elusive along the line of scrimmage.
* Aaron Flynn - Millard North
5'10" --- 170 lbs
Has the ability to get to the outside and break any carry. Great back for Millard North offensive system. Interesting player to watch his progress.
* Quentin Hodges - Lincoln High
6'0" --- 200 lbs
A back with a great deal of potential it is just a matter of exerting himself on the field. Can be an impact player.
* Jeff Herian - Alliance
6'0" -- 205 lbs
A real bruising running back he will earn the tough yards for Alliance. Also is talented at linebacker.
* Tony Wilson - Plattsmouth
5'11" -- 175 lbs
Lack of team success has others looking away from this back but he has potential as a game breaker.
* Stuart Frazier - McCook
6'0" -- 225 lbs
Big and strong. He enjoys the physical game and can move the down markers. Also a powerful hitter from his linebacking position.
* Xavier Oman - Beatrice
6'1" -- 200 lbs
An exciting back to watch. He can cut back on any play and go all the way. Look for Beatrice to try to get the ball in his hands often. Must run tough on every carry.
* Nathan Brabec - Schuyler
5'11" --- 183 lbs
A solid back that can be depended on to carry the load for his team.
* Kevin Engelkamp - Omaha Skutt
5'11" --- 180 lbs
Omaha Skutt needs this senior running back to keep the rushing game going. I new coach will be an adjustment.
* Bryan Florendo - Crete
6'0" -- 205 lbs
A very good running back who will need to take a larger leadership role this year due to graduation losses. Also a strong and hard hitting linebacker who plays sideline to sideline.
* Kyle Bateman - York
5'11" --- 180 lbs
Part of a very quick and fast backfield combo with Ben Benson. York must be able to control the ball to win in a tough district.
C-1
Alex Kotera - Wahoo Bishop Neumann
5'11" --------- 185 lbs
A running back that offers a good blend of balance, speed, and strength.
Shawn Mattheissen - Milford
6'0" --------- 175 lbs
Has speed to the hole and looks to return Milford to its position as a power in C-1.
Clint Poppe - Lincoln Lutheran
6'2" -------- 200 lbs
A very explosive back who can get the tough yardage and break the long play.
Trevor Eickhoff - Auburn
5'10" ------ 170 lbs
Can break the play anytime he touches the ball. Expected to step up as a senior.
C-2
Erin Retzlaff - Thayer Central
6'0" ------------- 200 lbs
Strong powerful runner who possess a burst of speed. Also a strong defensive player.
Justin Pieper - North Platte St. Pat.
5'10" --------------- 180 lbs
Good speed, physical, elusive running back for a C-2 power.
Jeff Mailahn - Southern
6'0 - 230 lbs
strong defensive player. He is a strong block and as a runner can move the line of scrimmage. Normally does not go down one on one.
D - 1
Tehl Keslar - Hyannis
5'10" ----- 160 lbs
A little small but offers great accleration and speed in the open field. In the right offense he can have a major impact.
Tristan Runnels - Niobrara-Santee
5'10" ----------- 190 lbs
This guy can fine the endzone. 4.6 speed in the 40 and strong runner inside the tackles.
Ray Crosby ---- Omaha Christian
5'10" ------- 170 lbs
Strong runner for his size.
D-2
Ben Eisenhart - Culberson
6'0" ----- 160 lbs
Speed describes this D-2 back. Will catch passes and break long plays.
** Chauncey Marshall - Lincoln Northeast
6-3 ---- 220 lbs
Playing linebacker and wide receiver for the Rockets allows Marshall to showcase his talents. He can make the big play on either side of the ball. If he wants to stay on the offensive side of the ball he may grow into an outstanding TE.
** Andrew Birkel - Lincoln Southeast
6-3 ------ 180 lbs
He has just committed to Nebraska he has size speed and runs good routes. Nebraska will want him to be more physical. Played last year at Lincoln East but will play this fall at Southeast.
** E.J. Falkner - Omaha Central
6-0 ------ 170 lbs.
His talent will be even better utilized this season at Central with the departure of Mark LeFlore and David Horne. Has been timed at 4.35 in the 40. Also an outstanding Defensive back.
** Chris LeFlore - Omaha Central
6-0 ----- 185 lbs
Has talent but is still learning to play wide receiver. Has good quickness and may also make an impact in the defensive secondary.
** Alec Young - Omaha Westside
6-4 ----- 180 lbs
Size - great leaping ability - and tough running routes over the middle make Young an exciting pass catcher to watch.
** Chris Ladwig - Schuyler
6-3 ---- 180 lbs
Tall and graceful off the line of scrimmage. He maybe overlooked by some because the team may not win many games.
** Micah Smith - Chadron
5-11 ---- 170 lbs
He is the high school version of NFL player Tim Dwight at WR/KR. Exciting and a real game breaker. One of top talents in western Nebraska.
** Justin Hans - Wynot
6-2 ---- 170 lbs
Tall and a little light weight, he is surprizingly strong with the football. Is also very good as a kick returner.
** Cale Lang - Beatrice
5-9 ---- 160 lbs
Small and not exceptionally fast but he has good hands and makes the tough catches.
