Top Returning Receivers: Classes A thru C-1

DBs didn't have much luck stop Adams Central's Cole Spady in Class B last season, don't see that changing much this season in C-1. (Bob Jensen/Huskerland)

Even in a land where option football is the holy grail, there is no denying the passing game is a bigger part of Nebraska high school football than ever before. And when you throw it, you have to have somebody catch it. (See how I put that all together...)

Here is a class-by-class listing of the top five returning receivers for 2016. Receivers are ranked on their total receiving yardage:

Class A Leading Returning Receivers
2015, Name, Grade School Catches-Yards-TDs @HuskerlandBob Sez

5. Josh Baker, Sr.

Omaha Burke

30-783-6

Explosive deep threat. I mean, 26 yards per?

8. Aaron Gerdes, Sr.

Millard North

46-791-8

A Millard North receiver this high? If the shoe fits, wear it. Gerdes is good.

9. Chris Finn, Sr.

Bellevue West

42-652-8

Remember when we all wanted to be the I-back at Central? Now it's receiver at Bellevue West.

10. Caden Highsmith, Sr.

Lincoln Northeast

58-648-4

High volume receiver in an improving offense.

11. Shae Wyatt, Sr.

Millard West

48-632-9

Consistent playmaker, could be best of the bunch.
