@Huskerland Bob's 20 Games of Note
Game Why This One? Survey Sez...

1. Blue Hill (4-0) at Lawrence-Nelson (4-0).

For all the right reasons, most of them revolving around rivalry with some good football sprinkled in, this is an easy choice for number one.

Blue Hill 24, Lawrence-Nelson 20.

2. McCook (4-1) at Scottsbluff (5-0).

Bison are hurting when Zach Schlager is hurting, which happens to be right about now. Can Scottsbluff take advantage?

McCook 20, Scottsbluff 17.

3. Columbus (5-0) at Omaha Skutt (3-2).

We asked when Columbus transitions from cute little story to title contender. When here and the answer is, well, now.

Skutt 32, Columbus 26.

4. Omaha Burke (5-0) at Omaha Westside (4-1), Thursday.

All eyes are pealed for the Week 9 showdown between Burke and Bellevue West. Except for the eyes on this one.

Omaha Burke 38, Omaha Westside 24.

5. Boone Central/Newman Grove (3-2) at Ord (4-1).

Reggie Senior will have his hands full here, Boone much better than that record.

Boone 30, Ord 24.

6. Freeman (5-0) at Lincoln Lutheran (4-1).

Lincoln Lutheran passing game yields an upset win here.

Lincoln Lutheran 38, Freeman 34.

7. Nebraska Lutheran (4-0) at East Butler (3-1).

All I can say is if Nebraska Lutheran wins it will make a mess of the D-1 top ten.

East Butler 28, Nebraska Lutheran 24.

8. Ponca (5-0) at Battle Creek (3-2).

All the elements are in place for an upset. Since when does a Battle Creek qualify as an upset, anyway?

Ponca 18, Battle Creek 14.

9. Elkhorn South (5-0) at Seward (4-1), Thursday.

It's not like rising Seward has no chance at all but no team has beat the Storm for going on three years.

Elkhorn South 42, Seward 21.

10. Valentine (3-2) at Hershey (4-1).

If there is a team in Class C-2 that deserves a break in a close game it's Hershey. Maybe the Panthers get it here.

Hershey 14, Valentine 13.

11. Grand Island (3-2) at Millard South (3-2).

Great to see Millard South making some things happen after a long stretch of tough sledding. How does GI respond to its most recent tragic loss to Omaha North?

Grand Island 21, Millard South 14.

12. Boys Town (5-0) at Bishop Neumann (3-2).

Boys Town, she be legit.

Boys Town 35, Bishop Neumann 21.

13. West Holt (3-1) at Burwell (4-0).

West Holt made Creighton sweat it out for three quarters, what happens here?

Burwell 45, West Holt 20.

14. Kearney (5-0) at Millard North (2-3).

Traditional power Millard North is young and learning but might get taught a lesson here.

Kearney 28, Millard North 14.

15. Hyannis (3-1) at Arthur County (3-1).

Turns out there are several top six-man teams out west, and two of them square off here.

Hyannis 38, Arthur County 28.

16. Kearney Catholic (4-1) at Mitchell (3-2).

Any game with KC's Matt Masker and Mitchell's Drake Gilliland on the field is a great game for the fans. Just a greater game for the Stars.

Kearney Catholic 35, Mitchell 24.

17. Hartington Cedar Catholic (5-0) at Lutheran High NE (4-1).

Should be much higher on the list, you're right about that.

Cedar 30, Lutheran High 14.

18. St. Paul (3-2) at Centennial (5-0).

St. Paul is beat up after the loss to Arcadia/Loup City but this is still a chance to compare and contrast within our most topsy turvy class.

Centennial 35, St. Paul 15.

19. Ogallala (3-2) at Chadron (4-1).

You have to beat Chadron to be the best C-1 team out west and Ogallala just might turn the trick.

Chadron 28, Ogallala 14.

20. Medicine Valley (5-0) at Southwest (2-2).

Southwest coming of a crazy 58-50 double OT win over Dundy. That said, Med Valley is really good.

Medicine Valley 50, Southwest 20.
