Harms commits to South Dakota State
Jake Harms and Beatrice linebacker Jessup Workman.South Dakota State's aggressive recruitment of Nebraska prospects has paid off for them tonight as they added two talented players in Crete standout
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Harms said had been high on the Jacks for a while now and decided tonight would be a good time to go ahead and end his recruitment.
"They were really excited when I called (to commit)," Harms said of the South Dakota State coaching staff. "They were jacked that I committed."
Harms said it was a recent visit to Brookings that really helped him to come to his decision to commit tonight.
"I went on a visit there about two weeks ago and I just fell in love with the facilities and the coaches and I just liked it a lot," Harms said. "It was the day before their camp, but I just took the visit I didn't do the camp. When I was there I could just really picture myself playing college there pretty much.
"I took a tour of all of (the facilities) and they are all really big and nice. They have a whole new indoor facility and they are re-doing all of the coaches offices and then in two years they are re-doing the whole football field too."
Harms also felt very comfortable with the coaching staff as well, especially his lead recruiter Coach Dan Jackson.
"I really like the coaches a lot," Harms said. "I like talking to all of them. Coach Jackson is who is recruiting me and he's just a great guy. He came to one of my track meets and I talked to him. I really like talking with him, he's just a cool guy."
Harms said another factor that prompted his decision was the news that his high school rival Workman committed this today as well. The two have battled against each other in high school, but will both be playing linebacker on the same team in college.
"Yeah, I heard that (Workman) committed," Harms said. "I was actually going to commit today, but then I heard that and it really pushed me to commit too. I've talked to (Workman) a lot. We're rivals, but I talk to him a lot. It's exciting that there are a bunch of Nebraska kids that are going to be playing up there.
Harms and Workman join Papillion (Neb.) Papillion-La Vista South defensive end Ryan Earith as South Dakota State's early commits for the 2015 class.
