OK, so I am still stuck in Lincoln. (Literally, as my car is stuck in the ice and snow, awaiting AAA to arrive...) So I have this little offering regarding the Class A final and will get to the other stuff once I get back home. Hope that works for you guys...

As for Class A, you sensed Omaha Central was focused and wanting to make this its final statement in a a game which had a cap and gown feel to it. Central took Papio out of the game early, so we had that settled, and could sit back and contemplate this progrm's place in history.

I know about Lincoln Northeast and its four straight state titles but I put Central a notch ahead of the Rockets' four-peat, in part because of the national attention the Eagles have drawn to Nebraska basketball.

Another factor, and some of this has to do with the (ahem) media-driven world we live in: people turned out to see Central play ball, especially at state but also back in early February when they packed the house for the game with Oak Hill Academy. Most in attendence were basketball fans, sure, but there was more than a sampling who showed just to see the show.
