Class C-1

West Bracket

No. 16 Ogallala (2-6) at No. 1 Boone Central/Newman Grove (7-1), 3 p.m.
Boone Central might easily be worthy of that No. 1 seed, all the way to the championship...Boone Central 42, Ogallala 7.

No. 9 Chase County (5-3) at No. 8 Ord (5-3), 6 p.m.
This game is a true toss up but I am going with Chase County. Why? Uh, alphabetical order?...Chase County 24, Ord 21.

No. 12 Chadron (5-3) at No. 5 Valentine (5-3), 5 p.m.
Valentine won this one in overtime last week. Seems only fair...Chadron 20, Valentine 14, OT.

No. 13 Gothenburg (4-4) at No. 4 Cozad (6-2), 7 p.m.
First time around Cozad won in a rout. I think the Haymakers make it two in a row...Cozad 31, Gothenburg 20.

Central City (2-6) at Kearney Catholic (8-0), 7 p.m.
Could it be Kearney Catholic is the one that comes out of this bracket? Maybe. (That's the sort of penetrating commentary we specialize in here at Huskerland...)...Kearney 35, Central City 7.

No. 11 Gibbon (6-2) at No. 6 Broken Bow (6-2), 7 p.m.
Gibbon has been a nice story this year but Broken Bow seems to have destiny on its side...Broken Bow 28, Gibbon 14.

No. 10 O'Neill (6-2) at No. 7 Grand Island Central Catholic (6-2), 6 p.m. Both teams had issues down the stretch, so go with the home team...GICC 28, O'Neill 24.

No. 15 Minden (2-6) at No. 2 Adams Central (8-0), 7 p.m. Nobody, well almost, scores on Adams Central...Adams Central 42, Minden 7.

East Bracket

Raymond Central (3-5) at Norfolk Catholic (7-1), 3 p.m.
Defending champs saw their win streak snapped a couple of weeks ago...as if they needed any more motivation for a three-peat...Norfolk Catholic 44, Raymond Central 14.

No. 9 Boys Town (5-3) at No. 8 Falls City (6-2), 7 p.m.
Falls City came up with a clutch win last week to snap up the district title but falls short of that first-ever playoff win...Boys Town 28, Falls City 13.

Syracuse (4-4) at Ashland-Greenwood (6-2), 7 p.m.
This one depends mostly on how Ashland-Greenwood responds to last week's 62-0 thumping by Wahoo...Ashland-Greenwood 24, Syracuse 20.

Wayne (2-7) at Fort Calhoun (7-1), 6 p.m.
This could be a trickier game for Fort Calhoun than you might think...Fort Calhoun 32, Wayne 14.

No. 14 Lincoln Lutheran (4-4 ) at No. 3 Pierce (7-1), 6 p.m.
Pierce, at Pierce, is no place to open your playoffs...Pierce 48, Lincoln Lutheran 14.

No. 11 Columbus Scotus (3-5) at No. 6 Wilber-Clatonia (7-1), 7 p.m.
Wilber-Clatonia's only loss is to unbeaten Adams Central...Wilber-Clatonia 34, Columbus Scotus 14.

No. 10 Lincoln Christian (5-3) at No. 7 Columbus Lakeview (5-3), 7 p.m.
Lakeview wobbled a bit down the stretch and needs to gather itself because Lincoln Christian can score...Columbus Lakeview 30, Lincoln Christian 20.

No. 15 Arlington (4-4) at No. 2 Wahoo (7-1).
Remember Wahoo's blowout loss to Norfolk Catholic? Wahoo does...Wahoo 40, Arlington 12.

Class C-2

East Bracket

No. 16 Tekamah-Herman (3-5) at No. 1 Aquinas (8-0), 7 p.m.
Aquinas certainly looks the part of a defending champion, especially on defense...Aquinas 35, Tekamah-Herman 7.

No. 9 Weeping Water (5-3) at Wakefield (6-2), 6 p.m.
Wakefield seems to be gathering momentum as we come down the stretch...Wakefield 24, Weeping Water 12.

No. 12 Centennial (4-4) at No. 5 Malcolm (6-2), 7 p.m.
Malcolm won their regular season match by 14 points...Malcolm 21, Centennial 20.

No. 13 Tri County (4-4) at No. 4 Archbishop Bergan (6-2), 6 p.m. at Memorial Field.
Bergan will be big news in these playoffs, mark my words...Archbishop Bergan 40, Tri County 14.

No. 14 Ponca (4-4) at No. 3 Elmwood-Murdock (7-1), at Elmwood, 6 p.m.
Ponca has played exceptionally well against a strong schedule, just coming up short in three of the four losses. Upset alert...Ponca 28, Elmwood-Murdock 20.

No. 11 Hartington Cedar Catholic (4-4) at No. 6 Louisville (5-3), 5 p.m.
Same thing for Cedar Catholic, though a tip of the cap to Louisville, which won a clutch game last week against Weeping Water...Cedar Catholic 30, Louisville 14.

No. 10 Oakland-Craig (5-3) at No. 7 Southern (6-2), 6 p.m.
Southern's been a great story this year but two of Oakland-Craig's three losses were by a single point...Oakland-Craig 28, Southern 7.

No. 15 Yutan (4-4) at No. 2 Lutheran High Northeast (8-0), 7 p.m.
Lutheran High has the look of a state championship type team...Lutheran High 44, Yutan 14.

West Bracket

No. 16 Cambridge (3-5) at No. 16 Sutton (8-0), 5 p.m.
Sutton has answered the bell in some big games this year and opens the playoffs with a home win...Sutton 35, Cambridge 14.

No. 9 Thayer Central (5-3) at No. 8 Hastings St. Cecilia (5-3), 6 p.m., Duncan Field.
Turnaround rematches are no fun for the winners of the first game but we see St. Cecilia getting the job done a second time...St. Cecilia 24, Thayer Central 16.

No. 12 Hershey (4-4) at No. 5 Perkins County (7-1), 6 MT.
This was a seven-point game the first time around and I am record as going with Hershey in an upset, so here goes...Hershey 14, Perkins County 7.

No. 13 Kimball (4-4) at No. 4 Blue Hill (7-1), 5:30 p.m.
Blue Hill loves that 5:30 home start and with good reason today...Blue Hill 38, Kimball 14.

No. 14 Centura (4-4) at No. 3 North Platte St. Pat's (8-0), 7 p.m.
St. Pat's has been unchallenged all season long and that won't change here, but props to Centura for getting in...St. Pat's 38, Centura 12.

No. 11 Battle Creek (3-5) at No. 6 West Holt (6-2), 7 p.m.
West Holt's touchdown win against Battle Creek at midseason sent the Braves into a spin. West Holt needs to get past last week's shut out loss to Crofton...West Holt 34, Battle Creek 32.

No. 10 Ravenna (4-4) at No. 7 Doniphan-Trumbull (6-2), 7 p.m.
Doniphan Trumbull has lots of weapons on offense...Doniphan-Trumbull 38, Ravenna 21.

No. 15 Southern Valley (3-5) at No. 2 Crofton (6-1), 2:30 p.m.
Crofton always wins at least one playoff game - why would it be any different this year...Crofton 44, Southern Valley 16.

Class D-1

West Bracket

Niobrara/Verdigre (4-4) at Burwell (8-0), 6:30 p.m.
Burwell has been scoring points in gobs but this is a game that could get real interesting...Burwell 44, Niobrara/Verdigre 20.

No. 9 SMC (6-2) at No. 8 Elm Creek (7-1), 6:30 p.m.
One of the better first-round match-ups and no slam dunk for the home team...Elm Creek 28, SMC 20.

No. 12 South Loup (3-5) at No. 5 Arapahoe (8-0), 6 p.m.
South Loup has shown flashes this season but Arapahoe too much...Arapahoe 34, South Loup 16.

No. 13 Maxwell (3-5) at No. 4 Paxton (6-2), 6 MT.
Paxont has lost two of three but won this regular season match by 36...Paxton 32, Maxwell 22.

No. 14 Franklin (5-3) at No. 3 Elgin/Pope John (8-0), 4 p.m.
Defending state champs playing like it...Elgin/Pope John 48, Franklin 18.

No. 11 St. Mary's (6-2) at No. 6 Palmer (7-1), 6 p.m.
Palmer is a very good team, winner of seven in a row...Palmer 32, St. Mary's 20.

No. 10 Overton (5-3) at No. 7 Loup City (6-2), 7 p.m.
I've struggled with this pick as much as any in the first round. Loup City won the first time, by 22. Upset alert...Overton 22, Loup City 20.

No. 15 Clearwater/Orchard (5-3) at No. 2 Hemingford (8-0), 1:30 MT.
This won't be a pushover game for the No. 2 seed and an upset isn't out of the question...Hemingford 28, Clearwater/Orchard 18.

East Bracket

No. 16 Nebraska Christian (3-5) at No. 1 Howells-Dodge (8-0), 6 p.m.
Howells-Dodge is good, pass it on...Howells-Dodge 50, Nebraska Christian 6.

No. 9 Guardian Angels Central Catholic (6-1) at No. 8 McCool Junction (7-1), 7 p.m.
One of the more interesting of the first-round games but GACC too much...GACC 38, McCool Junction 24.

No. 12 Clarkson/Leigh (5-3) at No. 5 Creighton (7-1).
Pretty tough draw for Creighton, which has lost only to Elgin/PJ. (Score comparisons will be all the rage, with Clarkson/Leigh having played Howells-Dodge last week...)Creighton 32, Clarkson/Leigh 14.

No. 13 Pawnee City (3-5) at No. 4 BDS (7-1).
BDS could easily wind up being the surprise team in the D-1 draw...BDS 40, Pawnee City 14.

No. 14 Lourdes Central Catholic (5-3) at No. 3 Freeman (7-1), 7 p.m.
Lourdes made Freeman work the first time, losing by just nine points...Freeman 34, Lourdes CC 30.

No. 11 Randolph (5-3) at No. 6 Exeter-Milligan (8-0), 6 p.m.
Unbeaten or not, Exeter-Milligan can't afford to snooze in this one...Exeter-Milligan 28, Randolph 22.

No. 10 Bloomfield (5-3) at No. 7 High Plains Community (7-1), 6 p.m. at Clarks.
For all the postseason high hopes, High Plains got a mighty tough opening draw...High Plains 38, Bloomfield 24.

No. 15 Pender (3-5) at No. 2 Hartington (8-0), 7 p.m.
Hartington won easily in the regular season (40-14) but needs to guard against a case of Playoff Nerves...Hartington 21, Pender 6.

Class D-2

East Bracket

No. 16 Lewiston (4-4) at No. 1 Humphrey St. Francis (8-0), 5 p.m.
Traditional power St. Francis has the muscle, especially in the line, to win it all in D-2...St. Francis 58, Lewiston 12.

No. 9 Lawrence-Nelson (6-2) at No. 8 Osmond (5-3), 5 p.m.
Osmond has missed the mark against some good teams but have a feeling they hold serve in this one...Osmond 34, Lawrence-Nelson 20.

No. 12 Bancroft-Rosalie (3-5) at No. 5 Wausa (7-1), 6 p.m.
Wausa is good enough to win this game if it just, well, plays its game...Wausa 36, Bancroft-Rosalie 18.

No. 13 Wynot (4-4) at No. 4 Sterling (6-2), 5 p.m.
Sterling has lost to two teams who are a combined 15-1...Sterling 34, Wynot 14.

No. 14 Osceola (5-3) at No. 3 Lindsay Holy Family (7-1), 7 p.m.
Holy Family has played exceptionally well this season, just off the radar, but that will change in these playoffs...Holy Family 40, Osceola 14.

No. 11 Fullerton (4-4) at No. 6 Lyons-Decatur Northeast (6-2), 6 p.m. at Lyons.
Both these teams lost big to very good teams but I like Lyons' speed...Lyons-Decatur NE 40, Fullerton 24.

No. 10 Humphrey (3-5) at No. 7 Parkview Christian (7-1), 2 p.m.
Parkview gets props for setting school single-season win record but Humphrey is a good team which lost to better teams, no shame there. Call it an upset...Humphrey 36, Parkview Christian 14.

No. 15 Diller-Odell (5-3) at No. 2 Falls City Sacred Heart (8-0), 3:45 p.m.
Sacred Heart begins its march toward what it sees as a glorious postseason run...FCSH 44, Diller-Odell 14.

West Bracket

No. 16 Hay Springs (4-4) at No. 1 Giltner (8-0), 4 p.m.
Giltner...Giltner 74, Hay Springs 14.

No. 9 Anselmo-Merna (6-2) at No. 8 Leyton (6-2), 1 MT.
Anselmo-Merna has won six of its last seven and the travel won't be a big deal, not that far west...Anselmo-Merna 32, Leyton 18.

No. 12 Wallace (5-3) at No. 5 Garden County (8-0), 4 MT.
Garden County has a good complement of offensive weapons, as you need in eight-man...Garden County 36, Wallace 16.

No. 13 Potter-Dix (5-3) at No. 4 Medicine Valley (8-0), 5 p.m.
Potter-Dix is dangerous, as any passing team can be, but Med Valley too balanced, too good...Medicine Valley 40, Potter-Dix 20.

No. 14 Hayes Center (4-4) at No. 3 Kenesaw (7-1), 6 p.m.
Kenesaw was a semifinalist last year and is goo enough to repeat that trick in a couple of weeks...Kenesaw 62, Hayes Center 14.

No. 11 Amherst (5-3) at No. 6 Bertrand (8-0), 6 p.m.
Bertrand has the speed to overwhelm youthful Amherst, which has a bright future, just not today...Bertrand 46, Amherst 20.

No. 10 Mullen (5-3) at No. 7 Spalding/Spalding Academy (5-3), 6 p.m.
Again I say, Spalding/SPA is a sneaky good team...Spalding/SPA 38, Mullen 14.

No. 15 Elwood (4-4) at No. 2 Shelton (7-1), 5 p.m.
Shelton enjoying a golden age of Bulldog football and advances here...Shelton 48, Elwood 18.
