1. Aquinas: The defending C-2 champs again return a suffocating defense and great special teams - last year's recipe for succes - and the best all-around player in the class, senior Landon Stouffer, who is part of a brilliant senior class.

2. Lutheran High Northeast: Here is a team which is poised for a breakthough after making last year's playoffs and winning a postseason game. A strong, athletic senior class includes some outstanding depth at the skill positions.

3. Crofton: Might seem a little high after the Warriors lose last year's best player in C-2, all-stater Tom Peitz, but they return eight starters on both sides of the ball.

4. St. Cecilia: Bluehawks didn't play in the championship and the world didn't end, which didn't seem possible. There are holes to fill but St. Cecilia will be strong on defense - led by two-time leading tackler Joel Grafel -and in the line, as usual.

5. Hartington Cedar Catholic: Just got a feeling here. The Trojans are always good and this bunch has the potential to be a final four type of team, led by outstanding young lineman Connor Wiesler and go-to back Frank Herbolsheimer.

6. Archbishop Bergan: After a disappointing three-win season in 2011, the Knights are all grown up and will feature some excellent skill players like 1,800-yard passer Ryan Batenhorst and super utility back Tanner Boggs.

7. Ponca: Nothing flashy about the Indians but they return a ton of expeience on both sides of the ball, including all-district performer Sam Burki.

8. Perkins County: Last season was a good one for the Plainsmen, as they won a playoff game, and return the most high profile college recruit in C-2, senior lineman Vinny Ross. Also back is outstanding running back Alex Johnston.

9. Doniphan-Trumbull: Returning more depth than any other team in the class, the Cardinals should be one of the pleasant surprises in 2012. Lots of speed in the backfield, trust us.

10. Oakland-Craig: Knights won their first 10 games last season before getting sidelined in the quarterfinals and will be led by all-state lineman candidate Zach Denton.
